Features
- Implemented with an add-in controller card
- Backup RAID card batteries available
Dedicated RAID cards tend to have the most complete feature set, often having battery backup as an option as well as allowing for in-depth setting of write cache configuration, stripe sizes, and hot spares. Downsides of dedicated cards include cost, use of a PCIe slot, increased boot times, introduction of an additional point of failure, and cooling concerns.
