This StarTech brand card provides a single USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type C port, providing up to 20Gbps to a connected peripheral. This Type C port is the newer, smaller USB size standard - but can be adapted to older devices through cables with Type C on one end and the desired connection on the other. Such cables are not included, but are widely available at Amazon and many large electronics retailers.
Internally, this card requires a PCI-Express x4 (or larger) slot on the motherboard. Most boards already have a mix of various USB ports, often including Type C. If additional USB ports are needed, though, this card is one way to add more.
