Auburn, WA (November 5, 2020) – Puget Systems (www.pugetsystems.com) today announced it has completed designing, testing, and building workstations using AMD's new Ryzen 5000 series processors. Announced earlier this month to much industry fanfare, the Ryzen 5000 series provide terrific performance for their cost – in most cases greatly outpacing similarly priced Intel processors. According to AMD, these new CPUs offer a 19% improvement in IPC (instructions per clock) in addition to various other improvements.
Puget Systems lab technicians, through extensive and thorough testing, found that the AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPUs offer significant value in a wide range of applications, including photography, post production, game development, photogrammetry and rendering, to name a few. In testing performance benchmarks comparing the AMD Ryzen 5000 against the Intel Core i5 and Core i9 in average content creation workloads, Puget Systems discovered the Ryzen 5000 series consistently outperformed the Intel Core i5 and Core i9 processors with the following percentage performance gains:
- Ryzen 5 5600 X vs. Core i5 10600K: 12% faster
- Ryzen 7 5800 X vs. Core i9 10900K : 6% faster
- Ryzen 9 5900 X vs. Core 19 10900xX 35% faster
- Ryzen 9 5950 X vs Core i9 10940X: 28% faster
